Every Day
Every evening at seven o'clock,
Or maybe thereabouts,
A filling roar as earth quakes,
Comes now a sound that takes
Up every tiny square of space,
Where every atom shakes.

A growl, like distant thunder,
But continuous and strong,
Grows louder, longer, deeper too,
To mesmerise the earth bound throng.

All eyes gaze up to see this arrow.
Walkers standing still as stocked.
And traffic wobbles in its slow lines
As drivers jostle for view unblocked.

Silver pointed shape goes boldly,
Leaves behind mouth open horde,
Flashing, brilliant dart with edges
Burnt black, space flight, Concorde.
