Bluebird
You
Every Day
Under line of flight path,
Ears apopping at jet blast sound,
With fiends of shining caravans,
Where trailers and tents abound,
Staring up with telescope tubes
The watchers on the ground.

The rumble of the engines
Brings hand to shade the eye,
And ear computes the distance
As noise and air speed tie,
To place, just out of reach,

The metal bird, skimming by .

But now a different moving note,
A raucous strident blast,
Soon becomes a fanfare bright,
Approaching from the south so fast
To cross the landing lane of aircraft
Three feet above the mast.

The bodies sleek, of these feather birds,
Whose wing tips rise then fall,
Moving tight in tandem
To defeat their heavyweight stall,
A duo of gaggling geese,
Go north to summers call.
