Welcome Home
My Agony
Bluebird
You
Every Day
The blackbird stared at me
And I, Advancing. slowed,
He hopped towards me glaring,
His unblinking eye glowed.
Hesitating, with one foot raised,
I felt my life in peril.
Stopped, and stared back at this tiger bird.
He, sensing win. proceeded forward
And with measured care struck down.
Then I saw
Not a ragged piece of string,
But caught out cold
In strange
Unfriendly
Open ground
Worm.

The golden beak
Stabbed
And severed
The struggling. squirming worm.

I stood stock still as worm
Hung, was drawn and quartered in a trice,
And slithered out of sight
Inside allis sleek and shiny bird.

The world was gone,
And blackbird soon was gliding, sliding over hedgerow.
And now my rooted feet took flight
Hurrying on.
Worm,
Blackbird,
Me,
All gone!
