Every Day
At first the deafening silence
Of cathedrals powerfull sound,
The rustling leaves as wind torments,
With incense all around.

Soon separate notes come floating through,
Lost owls lone lilting hoot.
And sharper noise, the distant clatter
Of strident pigeon shoot.

Closer yet, the frantic flies,
And droning of the bees,
The chomping of the grazing herd
As grass disappears with ease.

The nervous clucking of the hens
As barking dog is roused
By fishing boy. in silver stream,
When bobbing float is doused.

The popping of a passing 'plane,
Creeping over wooded hill,
The myriad calls of flying feather,
Quiet country, never still.
