Welcome Home
My Agony
Bluebird
You
Every Day
I drove my cart into the water,
Cool and clear and full of whispers,
Babbling in a contented way,
Talking to itself like sisters.

My dobbin stopped
Hock deep, and nudged the surface
Free of leaves,
Sun dappled as Chatres lace.

The sound of creaking mill wheel
Rolling in the champagne stream.
The taste of woodbine, smoking,
Prompted me to dream.

One hundred years from now
These ancient trees would still be old,
Mill house and cottage Lott
Still warm with colours bold.

And my resting body,
Here. then as now,
And highland cattle, yellow,
Watching this earth shaping plough.

I survive and float,
still axle deep. asleep,
Listening to growing grass,
The shimmering light dark leaves

calling me to move,
Now a Fleeting shadow,
Perhaps seen by artist,
Visitor, or kindred time thieves.
