Light Of My Life
Darling
Ancient Man
Followed the Sun,
Slept late on Winters morn,
And when the day was extra long
Spoke to his growing corn.

But suddenly
After the great Great War
And a Knowing Population,
Time meant everything in Life,
And changing Time
Was a temptation.

A longer day
More working hours
Great prosperity for all,
And in the Palace of Westminster
Summer Time was the call.

It kept us safe
In the Second World War,
Our crops grew full and fine,
We almost had the Midnight Sun
In Orcadian squares of pine.

Now, in this Atomic Age
Where Continents are but a minutes ride,
The Daylight Bill has run its course
As time stands still world wide.
