Time
Light Of My Life
Darling
I suppose, that
When the bomb explodes
And waves of pain
Tear apart the body,
Previous Life
Flashes by
In blood filled eye

That when the grenade
Shrapnels its way
Through tight braced flesh,
Previous Life,
Warm and happy and green,
Is the chosen scene.

When the bullet flies
Piercing muscle, strained in action,
Previous Life,
Unfinished task,
Makes one to ask
For forgiveness.

And then,
When the bayonet
Rips its saw blade action
Into resisting, yet suppliant, bone,
Comes thoughts of home.

And later.
I suppose,
When all is quiet,
One wonders why?
