Enchantment
Yeah Yeah
Tidy mind,
A library with lilies of neat stacked books,
Spine side straight and level tops,
Without those castellated looks.

A supermarket with lines of neat stacked foods,
Pyramid of bright coloured cans,
Perfect display of goods.

A micro computer with lines of neat stacked keys,
Flashing lights, and clicking relays
Buzzing like demented bees.

But all stone dead
Until the borrowers bend the line,
Or help themselves to cornflake pack,
Or dial exponential sine.

Did not Einstein
Cross straight line of thought,
And borrowed books laid on their sides
Upset librarians, who fought
For perfect symetry
In a less than perfect world?
Did not the robot,
Programmed on lines so smooth,
Die a death less than perfect
When tape jammed juddering gate
And paper line ripped unfurled?

Tidy mind becomes mechanical
And grinds to halt in rust,
Edges are for osmosis
Where advancement is a must.
