Yeah Yeah
The mother thrush
Busy carrying food to nest,
Thinking of other things,
Flew too low, too fast,
And, with a sickening thud,
Struck the shining sheet of steel
Hurrying passengers to work.
At the last moment, the driver,
Horrified, wrenched at the steering wheel,
Screeched to a shuddering stop,
Then stood transfixed as bird,
A mass of threshing feathers,
Gaped and screamed a silent scream.

Previous passive passenger
Grasped neck in fingers one and two,
And with quick movement,
Snap!

Racehorse,
Steaming,
Glorying in a galloping gambol,
Mistook instructions from
Tiny, saddle borne, imp,
Leapt too soon, and cartwheeled,
Leaving neck at angle
And legs splayed wide,
And eyes crying in agony.

Brown coated man
Pressed bolt to brain,
And with quick movement,
Bang!

Man,
Smoking in his bed,
Dreaming, content and warm,
Burst sudden into flaming pyre,
In terror, crashed through smoke blacked pane,
Cartwheeled, landed with a sickening thud
Leaving neck at angle,
Mouth gaped in silent scream,
And eyes crying in agony.

White coated man,
Pressed stethoscope to red raw flesh,
And calmly
Listened!
