Piccadilly Circus
Retired
Once,
I was much astonished
To see the Flying Lintels of Stonehenge.

My view across The Plain
Punctuated where ragged Rooks rock and roll
Their staggered flight
Along the Horizons crannies, and nooks,
Where Barrows and Mounds
Have ever been.

These Chunks of Rock
Floating in the morning mist,
Levitated Leviathans,
Where Earth and Sky once kissed.

But as the Risen Sun
Burned its presence in my mind,
The Horizon retreated to its Proper Place,
And these once thought of, Doorsteps,
Became as was,
The outline of Gigantic Lace,
The Roof Line in this City of Space.

Once I was astonished
To see this Mystery,
But, now that I am a Believer,
All is revealed to me!
