Piccadilly Circus
Retired
The leaves rustled,
Shimmering their silver waves,
The birds, with feathers ruffled,
Round shouldered in their caves
Of brown and green,
Tighten their hold in this mobile scene.

The grass
An incoming tide,
The corn, in fields aside,
Sweeping as oceans rollers.
Strollers,
In boots, and shorts,
Walking sticks, and staffs,
In search of shelter,
Hurry on their Signpost paths.

The Weathermans Forecast,
"Extremely low today,
Excessive winds,
Torrential rain,
The outlook horribly grey!"

And, after Lifes blackest night
With its deafening cacophony of sound,
When the Hurricane, now the slightest breeze,
Has at last ceased to pound,
Broken bundles of feathers,
Lost leaves,
Dead trees,
All around.
