My Love
Daughters are such fragile things
And can't compare with boys,
They screech, and smile, and break your heart,
And treat dads as "so much'' toys.

They gurgle at the nappy stage.
Blow bubbles with their Heinz,
And gardening with chubby hands
shock horror at their finds.

Later, walking tall and slim,
A mimic of their mother,
And coming home at dead of night
shadowed by guardian brother.

Daughters are such fragile things
thought grown up still thought child.
Still need the reassuring arm
And strength with manner mild.
