My Love
Standing at the bus stop,
shivering in the rain,
Watching splashing cars go by
And matchsticks down the drain,
Peering as each traveller
Joins the queue again.

The working day the same old round,
Only the weather change
Clothes from skirt and jumper
To fur and duffle range.

A shy good morning breaks the quiet
Of silent standing gnomes,
Though on this day of cutting wind
And creaking cracking bones,
The world is mute in this removed,
Except for resigned moans.

But. here at last, the stage coach comes
With steam stopped lighted glass,
And I am pleased to keep my cash
As quick I flash my pass,
Here, a warming, smoking, group,
God bless the working class.
