Norwich is an ancient town,
Just a thousand steps across,
But motorway, like string of beads,
Confirms the travellers loss.

Concrete jungle of flat faced stores
With mirrors blandly blank,
hiding square of coloured tents,
And castle on the bank.

The Wensum. winding from the west,
Its beauty shadowed tall.
The pecking pigeons. walking green,
Cock heads to seagulls call.

The time torn beams, in black white house,
Smile under thatch of straw,
And smooth grey road. laid flat by steam,
Comes rough to cobbled floor.

Whilst here life slows, returns to full,
As sights and savours flow.
The rush is now a gentler pace,
With space for human glow.
