Thirty Days ...
The neon bright light
flared and beckoned to me,
And as my view narrowed,
the brightness showed for free
A hollow in the night so black,
it could be supposed only hole.

The tunnel opened
as a flower in the sun,
But here, light only came,
not flowed, as life begun.
Only folding deep in arms
with crushing power, like death.

When eyes are closed
and mind is gone,
And wind is no more use,
the velvet depth of ended life
Is a tunnel ever on,
until, perhaps, when great divide
Is finally, finally crossed,
The waters flat and inky grey,
Become a green and pleasant place.
And God will nod
A smiling face,
And motion for me
To sit,
At his right hand.
