Thirty Days ...
Life is like a tree
With paths we take like branches tall,
And those we don't
The roots below that stop our fall.
We do not, cannot,
Always go the way we wish
And branches often wither and die,
We see our friends, divided, miss
The junction broad, and wave goodbye.

The leaves of life are memories,
Some broad, some bold,
Some withered and soon forgot.
But one day, perhaps when life is done,
The scenes come flashing back
To relive the happy moments, and the sad,
Of friends we now miss a lot.

Different branches of one tree
Will grow faster than the other,
And others, lovely though they be,
Are severed from trunk, the mother
Of us all who yearns and aches
To hold us close and tight,
As one snowball is a thousand flakes,
And a smile a brilliant light.

The leaves of life are people,
Some true, some cold,
Some once met and soon forgot.
But one day, perhaps when Autumn comes,
We'll see the folk we knew
And relive the happy moments, and the sad,
With friends we now miss a lot.
