Thirty Days ...
At night in bed and fast asleep
When all is soft and silent deep,
I open wide my tight shut eyes
And fly about till bright sunrise

The blankets back I push with stealth,
And test my arms, with abundant health,
For lift, and stall, and diving plane,
Then climb, and twist, and dive again.

I swoop and glide around my bed,
And change my flight with a twist of head,
My feet, with a flick, zoom me round once more,
And a turn of my wrist flashes me by the door.

I lower my hip and shoot up in a curve,
I begin to cough and go into a swerve,
I'm out of control and try to brake,
I land with a thump. Awake!
