Thirty Days ...
I remember when I was Young
playing in the sand and sun,
Agonising over choice to make,
Candy floss, ice cream or cake.
Dad would take me in the sea,
Heedless Of my don't make me plea,
Then after initial shocking cry
Splash for hours till Mum pats dry.
ooooh that shivering, shaking, delicious time
Wrapped in toweling, feeling fine,
Dressing quickly on the shore
Hurry tomorrow, time for more.
But after tea, we run and shout
Along the prom, and in and out
Of tumbled deck chairs, castles, moats,
And stranded whales, that turn out boats.
Till dark, and magic twinkling light
Lead us to a place star bright,
A giant ship with land so near,
An anchored playground called the pier.
