When I was younger
And the Night Sky
Knew nothing of Geiger,
Of Ampere, Volta, or of Faraday,
When the Blackness of the Night
Did not glow with Man-Made iridescence,
But the Planets, Stars and Super Nova,
With their incandescence,
Made the view a Wonderland,
I was not afraid, nor fearful, of the Coming Dawn,
For Suns-Rays. gentle and warm,
Always kept their promise,
And would opalesce, phosphoresce,
Radiate their Flame of Goodness.

As I grew older
And particles of Ice
Hazed the view of the Heavenly Sky,
As Seas became solid and packed, as mountains, high,
This Green Earth was no more,
But the daily Returning Sun,
Reliable and with Life in store,
Outlined the Glaciers,
Melting their Rainbow Features,
As once again Wandering Creatures
Strolled These Meadows.

Now that I am old
And History is scored upon This Globe,
Where Deep-space probe
Looks back to see where Centuries have passed,
Where once Quartz stood tall and proud.
A schooners mast,
We no longer pray to this Deity,
For upon our wrist,
Plain to see,
Pulsar controlled Crystal Electricity
Silent ticks
The Time,
For me!
