Hear This
Finally
At sight of hanging stones
Grey, exciting at long distant view,
Tension mounts. and silence reigns
Between green grass and sky so blue.

The travellers in metal boxes,
Heads swivelling for dramatic glimpse
Of prehistoric battlements,
And scientific data hints.

As oily, aromatic carriage glides
Around sweeping bend to rest,
Three white discs bump suspension coils.
Their reason few have guessed.

We marvel at the flint stone knives,
And power to raise the lintels,
And view of morning star so bright
Out shines ten million candles.

But apparent mundane base
Of tree trunks straight and tall
Are driven over. rough shod,
By visitors one and all.

When now they should be sanctified
As key to all magnificence
That winds this clock, by Ancients made.
Correct for a thousand years hence.
