I never thought of school days
As the happiest of my life,
it was, after all, just a job,
With some happiness, some strife.

Often, learning in the class
Like some out of tune computer,
My mind would take me far away,
When concentration ought make me "cuter"

My day dreams kept me warm and dry,
Real life was cold and frightening,
But highlight of those childhood days
English and Georgraphy, enlightening.

Here, because my mentors two
Were kind and gentle men,
The words they spoke and scenes revealed
Now live inside my pen.

I've floated through my life so far
Shocked by bombs and war,
Pointed bestial stick of death,
Fear frozen to my core.

When in those very deadly places
I remember beauteous scene,
Snowflakes falling, and orange groves,
And pointed mountains green.

So thank you then, Magister,
For life is not all hate,
My only regret, I learn too slow,
And now my age too great.
