Do You...
Darling
For thousands of years
Boys have climbed,
Shaken,
Aimed their missiles
At Chestnuts high in the sky.

Their reward,
Often,
A thump on the head,
And sometimes passers by
Were heard to cry
"Stop that".

The fruit
From these Oxygen Machines,
A treat at our feet.
The unseen Nuts
Winter food for animals and birds,
And those that do not surface,
The beginnings of a new Forest.

Sticks and stones
May break our bones,
But this handfuls
Of gracefully Living Logs,
These Individual Clones,
Meant no harm at all.

And did not deserve
The Death Sentance.
