Dead is Dead
A Penny For Them
My Old Dutch
Hush
If your head is bursting
With thoughts and words so pure,
Often in a jumble
That need a landing lure,
That ought to come to life,
And glow for all to see,
Let them come, let them tumble,
Both long and tiny short,
Let them live, let them breathe,
Though tangled or sharp report.

If your heart is bursting With love for all around,
For fellow beings in your life,
For natures subjects that abound,
Let your heart go,
Hug, and kiss, and hold.
Talk to flowers, smile at birds.
Protect them from the cold.
Tread gently not to hurt
Those tiny creatures far below,
For they too must have a soul,
Though progress rainfall slow.

If your hands are bursting
With all the love they feel,
With words from brain,
And heart felt thoughts so real,
Take those words,
Take those thoughts,
Make them shine with life,
Vibrant on a scrap of waste
Or vellum, sharp as knife.
Write them small,
Write them large,
Written clear, or hurried scrawl,
Better to ever let them live
Than never to survive at all.
