Ancient History
If Only!
WhereNext
I may have been born
In London Town,
Hammersmith to be precise,
Wulfstan street in Acton East,
Near place of robbers and vice.

But Ernest Arthur my dad,
A Dagenham, Essex man,
Met Elizabeth Charlotte Gooch
While travelling up through Stepney Green,
Where every one walked their pooch.

Isabelle, gran
And mother of six,
Margery, Ciss and Gwen,

Bernie and Fred,
And baby boy Phil,
A cat, a dog, a hen,
Met railway man,
Up from Norfolk,
George Frederick Loveday.
They fell in love
At Liverpool street
And lived in Commercial Way.

So, I may have been born In London
But a country boy bred am I
The rush of traffic crush,
The crush of human rush,
Urges me in search of freedom
As skylark In blue sky.
