It's.......!
The Forty Six
Came steaming up the slope,
Clattering in its No Mans Land,
Passengers stood shoulder tight,
And windows,
Streaming yellow light.

Atop of Spencer Gardens,
Where climb becomes a lazy level,
Where camber is the only bevel,
The winding handle gently brakes,
And rubbing, grinding, makes
A rocking, untidy,
Stop!

Shadows,
Silent, cross to safety,
Disappear in gloomy night,
But soon the cracked bell sound
Turns stopped movement to trunding flight,
And at the Church, this People Carrier,
Rolls down The Hill, a nodding dobbin,
A mobile lighthouse, a wondrous sight.

But Forty Four
A different story,
Stops and stays awhile,
Disgorges horde, empty aboard,
Until the Power Arm is changed.
And when the Crew, refreshed, recharged,
And seats are noisy rearranged,
This flood of light, in this Palace of Fame,
Retraces tracks to whence it came.
