In The beginning
One Fish is much like another,
Shark and Shebunkin brother,
Living in the same environment,
Places where the rivers vent,
Ponds, and lakes, and oceans wide,
Even riding on the tide,
Water ever their common medium,
Movement continuous, though never tedium.

One Fish is much like the next,
Gaping mouth, backbone flexed,
Horseshoe scales, swishing tails,
Gliding in their watery lair,
Flying in the spray filled air,
Pectorals planting, dorsal sailing,
Freedom movement without a care.

Fish really are all the same,
For fishermen so much game,
Twisting, turning, hooked and squirming,
Striking Mallet, taste on palate,
Great with chips,
Or asparagus tips.

Fish are all alike,
Herring, Cod, stalking Pike,
Turbot, Tench, Rainbow Trout,
Surely there can be no doubt
Each of these creatures a perfect clone,
Moving in their moisture zone,
All alike, all the same,
Each exact, A model toy,
All alike,
Until the Koi.
