In The beginning
If Stonehenge
Was a place for sacrifice,
And Avebury
Used for Magic, black,
Was Harefield
Just a butchers block,
And Coventry
A place that lost the knack
For saying prayers, saving life,
Showing us the reasons why
We live, we laugh, we die.

If Stone Age Man
Could build such splendour
Where people lived and died,
Why should we suppose
That Abbey Westminster
Is a place where everyone cried.
Dead bodies placed beneath the floor,
Statues standing near the door,
Effigies with hands tight clasped,
And ritual prayers that repeat
With Me abide, abide, abide.

Ancient Man left no books
Though he made the Land a library,
His words are Dolmens, Monoliths
Built large as like a monastery,
A seat of learning and of prayer,
A place to see the Solar Flare,
A plan of all Before and Since,
Unbroken code, with subtle hints,
A code imperative we break
Before this Land an oven make.

If Stonehenge
Was a place for sacrifice,
Was it all in vain.
