In The beginning
I clutched tight
The string of my Red Balloon,
Lift Off time approaching soon,
The Sun, burning of the morning mist,
The awakening cornfields beckoning now kissed.

The string,
Wrapped around my hand,
Around my wrist for safetys sake,
My minute weight at last no brake,
My balloon rose into the Sky.

I followed slow
My hoarse "Bye bye"
Echoing in the silent space,
Today, a rest from straining race.

Free to follow my Red Balloon,
Free to be Earths second Moon,
Red in the clearest, brightest blue,
My left hand loose to wave to you,
My feet, walking clouds of white
Assisting in this freedom flight,
As I clutch tight
The string
Of my Red Balloon.
