Train To Be a Driving Instructor
Training to be a driving instructor can be rewarding and satisfying, but you need to know more about the driving instructor industry before embarking on a new career. Some adverts for driving instructors paint a very rosy picture! You should get proper advice from someone who is already qualified and works for themselves. You may be able to earn a good wage, but you need to think realistically about the costs of maintaining your car, marketing and running a business, as well as finding the time to organise your pupils and lessons.
Be Your Own Boss
I can give you everything you need to know to be a good and knowledgable instructor, and teach people to drive properly. There is a lot more to it than just being there in the car and knowing how to drive yourself.
There are Three tests you need to pass to qualify as an instructor.
1. Hazard Perception and Theory - There are more questions than Learners get, and the pass mark is higher.
2. Practical Driving Test- This is like the Learner Test but includes everything that could happen in any Learner Test.
3. Instructing Skills Tests - These are 2 role play tests where a Senior Examiner pretends to be a specific learner. They attempt to create realistic situations to see how you would deal with a particular learner or driver.
