I have been having a difficult week at work this week. Not me, really, but everyone else on the road. There have been so many occasions that people have tried to drive into me as if I wasn't there, that it is getting the better of me.

As a driving instructor you see bad driving all the time, but in the past I could always convince myself that this was because they didn't know what they were doing and hadn't been taught properly.

The last few weeks have made me a bit more cynical and make me now think that people are doing it on purpose. I talked to one of my sons about it, and he said that I must remember, that half of all people are below average, some very much so. That didn't make me think any differently about drivers who are dangerous on purpose.

Then I remembered an episode of Mock The Week, where Ed Byrne kept being blocked getting to the microphone to say his gag (at 3:20)! It was a bit like that with the driving, having people blocking the road, and cutting me up, and trying to drive into me, as if I was ****ing invisible.

But that didn't help, because what Ed Byrne did was funny, whereas these people on the road are putting mine and their own lives at risk. It makes me say one of my mantras. It is aimed at people who are driving dangerously to make progess on the road, and it goes "Get out of my way! Hurry up! My time is valuable", and I always qualify it, with "but my life is not!".

That didn't help either, and then I remembered my favourite Einstein quote. It must be done with a German accent, of course.

And then I was ok again, having my faith renewed in accepting things the way they are!
