Now, this week as well, I was looking for a new car. I have been looking and testing for new cars for a while, but not been too happy with what I have seen.

Monday I started in earnest to find a replacement. There's nothing wrong with the car I have been using, except it is getting a bit tired. Think of all those people who have learnt how to drive in it!

First garage on Monday: Cars were ok but nothing quite right. Second garage: The car I liked had sold on the windscreen, and the dealer obviously wasn't interested in selling it to me. Third Garage: Seemed to have an ok car, but turned out it had been repaired from an accident, and when I looked along the sides, you could see two panels, one on each side were out of line!

I talked to the guy in the third garage, and I looked past him, into the showroom. On the other side was a silver car. Looked nice, I thought! Then went through my list of wants. It ticked every single box.

Took it out for a drive and did a TIR and then a LR. Seemed a tad high in the back left corner, but that was the only thing that wasn't perfect. Took it back, and said I wanted to think about it.

Went back on Tuesday morning, part exchanged my green Yaris, and paid the difference. Picked it up on Wednesday morning and took it for a long drive to London and it was brilliant!

So what is it? A VW Golf! In silver, with alloy wheels. Turbo Diesel. Immaculate inside. Nice stereo. Trip computer. Built-in hands free. PAS. ABS. ESP. XYZ? Well, it is almost the complete top of the range, as it turns out.

And it's got climate control. Stick it at 18C and it stays there! I am so looking forward to spending time in it over the summer, when it's sticky and warm outside, I am going to be so cool, viz. COOL!
