February 18 2011The last few days have kind of been surprising to me! So many incidents of people driving badly, putting their lives at risk, and seeming to want to take others with them to their deaths! I remember when I started teaching to drive, and becoming more and more aware of how others do it, that people seemed to drive by some kind of instinct, rather than logic; or using a system based on personality rather than safety and safely getting to your destination. I asked John Pierrepont, who I was being trained by at the time, whether "you ever get used to it?". He has been an instructor and trainer of very high calibre for nearly 30 years, and all he said was, "It's out there, Mark!". I replied, "but do you ever get used to it?". He just repeated himself. Since then I have been instructing for a while. I admit that I don't see that I will ever get used to the many varied ways , in which people will attempt to kill themselves on the road (, or off it)!
